Florence-Darlington Technical College Students Win Internships Thanks to ASSIST
Florence-Darlington Technical College welding students James Seastrunk and Bradley Tolson have won internships at a local manufacturing company thanks to the ASSIST to Work program at the College. Both Seastrunk and Tolson were hired at G.E. Healthcare of Florence as paid interns.
ASSIST Counselor Kimberly Evans said both men successfully completed the ASSIST program which gave them resume and interviewing skills they were able to use to compete for the internships. “They had to interview for the jobs just like anyone else,” said Evans.
Both students credit ASSIST with helping them win the jobs. Tolson said, “They helped me with my resume and made sure that I looked like a professional when I went for my first interview.” Seastrunk echoed his friend, “ASSIST counselors made
sure I was totally prepared when I walked into the G.E. reception area.”
ASSIST is a federally-funded program headquartered at FDTC and is part of a 16-college consortium that seeks to provide training in soft skills, resume writing and interviewing techniques.
